As part of its ongoing efforts to empower academic youth in Syria, the SciKeys Association has opened a state-of-the-art educational computer lab at the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (FMEE) at Damascus University. The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Ghaith Warkozak, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Ahmad Alalewi, President of SciKeys.
An Integrated Educational Environment for 20 Students
The laboratory has been equipped with 20 modern computers and all necessary peripherals, aiming to provide an integrated educational environment that gives students access to the latest technical tools. This step comes in response to the urgent need to develop university laboratories and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Supporting Language Skills and Scientific Research
The laboratory’s role is not limited to technical aspects; it primarily aims to support students in developing their foreign language skills (English, French, German) through the association’s specialized programs. This is achieved by leveraging the expertise of Syrian academics both locally and abroad, creating a unique knowledge bridge.
Strategic Partnership with Damascus University
The association’s management emphasized that this project is the result of close cooperation with the presidency of Damascus University and the deanship of FMEE. The opening received extensive coverage from the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), reflecting the strategic importance of such initiatives in supporting higher education in Syria.
Towards a Sustainable Digital Future
This laboratory is the cornerstone of the “Access Points (TechnoRise)” program. SciKeys seeks to replicate this experience in other colleges and universities to ensure that technology reaches all Syrian students.
