At SciKeys Association, we believe the Syrian mind has exceptional capabilities. With the right support and academic guidance, it can compete in top global universities. Today, we highlight this vision through the success of Engineer Mahmoud Ahmad Abo Shukr.

From the Lecture Halls of Damascus University to Excellence in France

Engineer Mahmoud began his journey as a distinguished teaching assistant at Damascus University. He worked in the Department of Computer and Automation Engineering. Driven by strong ambition, Mahmoud pursued advanced academic growth in artificial intelligence. This field is among the most complex and influential for humanity’s future.

Today, Mahmoud is achieving outstanding and impressive results in the specialized Master’s program in “Machine Vision and Artificial Intelligence” at the prestigious Paris-Saclay University in the French Republic.

Excellence in a Competitive Global Environment

Initially, the challenge was not easy, as the program includes elite students from leading universities worldwide. Moreover, participants come from countries such as France, China, Vietnam, and South Africa. Nevertheless, despite strong competition, Engineer Mahmoud ranked among the program’s top students. Ultimately, he achieved an outstanding average of 85% in his first semester.

Employing AI to Serve Scientific Research

Mahmoud is currently continuing his advanced steps by carrying out his graduation thesis project at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) laboratory in Montpellier, France. His research focuses on analyzing satellite images to improve detection and segmentation models using Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence techniques. This research reflects an advanced level of academic presence for Syrian students in international scientific forums and leading research laboratories.

The Role of “SciKeys” and the One Thousand Students Project

This exceptional achievement is a living embodiment of the goals for which the “One Thousand Students Project” at SciKeys Association was launched.

The association took upon itself the responsibility of building academic bridges for young talents. In Mahmoud’s story, the association’s role materialized through:

  • Consultation and Guidance: Providing the necessary support to choose the most suitable academic program in French universities.
  • Securing University Admission: Assisting the student in navigating the complexities of the application process and ensuring his admission.
  • Reception and Accompaniment: The association’s role did not end on paper; our team in France was present to receive Engineer Mahmoud upon his arrival and accompany him to facilitate his integration into the new academic and social environment, ensuring a strong and reassuring start.
